The Jones Library announced the following opportunities for citizen involvement.

1)  New Sustainability Committee

The library is seeking five community members with expertise in sustainability, green practices, and social equity in order to create an updated sustainability plan applicable to the library’s building as well as operations and services at the Jones and its two branches.  The charge for the committee is available here.

Candidates should have knowledge and expertise in sustainability, green practices, and social equity, according to the announcement posted July 22 on the town website. The committee will devise and propose a sustainability plan for the Jones’s facilities, operations, and services, as well as operations and services of the Munson and North Amherst libraries. It is possible that this will have a direct impact on the trustees’ and director’s next demolition/expansion proposal, the first one having been rejected until a new design is submitted that moves the large meeting room from the ground floor. . According to the notice, Jones trustees are committed to building a culturally and socioeconomically diverse committee and will select members for the committee based on their expertise, experience, and an appreciation for public library services.

If interested, please submit a letter of interest and resumé by Monday, August 5, 2019 to the address below. Applicants will be interviewed by the Buildings and Facilities Committee beginning Monday, August, 19th.
