The League of Women Voters of Amherst (LWVA) is offering grants of up to $1000 for anyone–league member or not – who is interested in furthering one of the Leagues’ priorities. Grants must be directly related to a program area which has been studied and adopted by the League of Women Voters US (LWVUS), the LWV of Massachusetts, or the LWV of Amherst. Topics include, for example, environmental issues related to the climate crisis, affordable housing, and expanded access to voting. The LWVA Program Book describes the broad range of program areas of interest to the Amherst League and links to the state and national programs can be found here. The current action priorities of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts are also available online. No grants will be given to support a political party or candidates for office.

$5,000 has been allocated for the year 2020. Individual grants will not exceed $1,000. Future funding is subject to annual budgeting for Community Services. The LWVA reviews grant applications on a rolling basis. The grant review committee reserves the right to request more information to clarify information in grant applications. Applicants will be notified within 60 days of  submission, and awardees must accept or decline the grant within one week of notification.

Those who receive funding  must be willing to provide a short report for LWVA to use in their publications and promotions. Photos are appreciated and must be accompanied by a release for the LWVA to use the image in print or online publications. This report must be done within a month of  project completion.
