Mangano served with the Amherst Pelham Regional School District for nearly a decade in progressively more responsible positions. He began his career as a budget analyst, was promoted to accountant, and then to be Director of Finance for the District. Last December, Mangano provided financial leadership for the schools’  $50+ million budget (including payroll, accounts payable, accounting, treasury, budgeting, grants management, food services, capital planning, and debt service). Mangano left his position with the School District to explore opportunities in the private sector.

Mangano has Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Business Management, and a Master of Science Degree degree in Accounting. He is a licensed School Business Administrator and a Certified Massachusetts Public Procurement Official.

Bockelman said, “I am thrilled to add Sean to our Finance Team at this critical time. The next 12 to 24 months will be the most challenging time for Town and School finances in decades, requiring enormous creativity and sensitivity.” Bockelman added, “Sean brings a keen understanding of municipal finance and the interplay between school and municipal budgets. He knows the school and Town financial systems from the ground up and has a detailed knowledge of regional school district finances and, specifically, the intricacies and nuances of the four-town Amherst Pelham Regional School District.”

Mangano will complement the Town’s existing finance team, whose members have all taken on additional responsibilities over the years. “I really want to thank Treasurer Cheri Boucher, Collector Jennifer LaFountain, and especially Comptroller and Interim Finance Director Sonia Aldrich for leading our finance team and providing such excellent financial stewardship during these past several years,” Bockelman concluded.

The Finance Director screening committee was chaired by the Director of Human Resources Evelyn Rivera-Riffenburg and included Assistant Town Manager David Ziomek and former Finance Committee member and Town Administrator Bernie Kubiak.
