The Town of Amherst announced on Thursday that it will continue to ban the use of Puffers Pond beaches for swimming and congregating until further notice. The area can still be used for fishing, walking, and hiking purposes while following current public health protocols for COVID-19.  These include the requirement to wear masks when social distancing is not possible and the prohibition of gatherings larger than ten people.

Town officials reported that they want to ensure the safest possible environment for community members and that they are actively developing a plan for reopening the beaches, based on guidance from the Governor’s office.
