Single Use Plastic Prohibition
The Town Council will hold a first discussion on a proposed amendment to General Bylaws Section 3.28 – Single Use Plastic Bag Prohibition – at the regular Town Council meeting on Monday, September 14 at 6:30 PM. A second reading and potential vote is scheduled for the regular Town Council meeting on Monday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. 

Full text of the proposed bylaw amendment is available here; a version with proposed changes to the existing bylaw marked is available here. If adopted by the Town Council, the bylaw amendment shall become effective 14 days after the Town Council vote to adopt, or a specified later date.

Percent For Art Bylaw
The Town Council will hold a first reading of a proposed bylaw, the Percent for Art Bylaw, at the regular Town Council meeting on Monday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. A second reading and potential vote is scheduled for the Town Council meeting on Monday, September 21 at 6:30 PM.

  1. I am curious to watch the Council discussion of the proposed Public Art bylaw. Is it part of Amherst Forward’s vision or readers of Amherst Indy’s vision of what our Town should be? This proposal clearly puts the conflicting views in the limelight. How will it resolve?
