Second Forum On Racial Equity In Housing Slated For April 20
The Amherst Affordable Housing Coalition, along with the Town of Amherst and the League of Women Voters of Amherst, is sponsoring the second of its three-part series on housing in Amherst. This program will discuss Racial Equity in Housing and include speakers from the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), Reparations for Amherst, the Racial Equity Task Force of Amherst, Wayfinders, Valley Community Development, NCOBRA, and Family Outreach of Amherst.
The forum will be held on Zoom from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20. It will examine the history of racial discrimination in housing nationally and locally and discuss how to move forward in promoting fairness in housing.
The event is free and open to the public and can be accessed at bit.ly/racialequityandhousing
The previous forum was held on March 30 and dealt with “Creating Home Ownership for Low Income Households.” That program was recorded and can be viewed here. The May program will cover Climate Sustainability in Housing. That program is tentatively set for May 25.
