Gallery A3 To Display New Work by GK Khalsa and Tom Morton
Gallery A3, 28 Amity Street, Amherst, announces new exhibits by GK Khalsa and Tom Morton. The exhibit runs from August 5 until August 28.
An Art Forum in connection with the exhibits will be held on Thursday, August 19 at 7:30 pm. See the gallery website (www.gallerya3.com) for updates and details. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Amherst Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
GK Khalsa: Assemblage (Within a Box or Frame)
Khalsa assembles three-dimensional objects into painted wooden reliefs, working within the format of a box or frame. His process entails wood-turning and other woodworking techniques, painting on wood, and arranging found objects.
Tom Morton: Cracks in the Wall
Morton is showing a group of new, mostly abstract paintings and oil pastel drawings called Cracks in the Wall, along with earlier works, some of which will be exhibited for the first time. Although they are non-objective, says Morton, pieces in Cracks in the Wall try to suggest that pressures of climate change and social disruption push against the barriers that nations raise to contain the flow of displaced people, and can swell and strain to crack those walls.
