COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shots Now Available At Town Vaccine Clinic
As of October 14, Amherst began offering third COVID-19 vaccines to eligible residents at the weekly vaccine clinic from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Thursday at the Bangs Community Center. Appointments are required for all COVID-19 vaccines. Those coming for their second or third shots should bring their vaccine record card or other proof of vaccination. To make an appointment, go here.
Because the town clinic will probably not be able to accommodate all residents wanting to get booster shots, the town recommends checking other sites for available appointments. These are:
Massachusetts COVID-19 Vaccine Finder Tool https://vaxfinder.mass.gov/
UMass Amherst Vaccine Clinic https://www.umass.edu/coronavirus/vaccine
Northampton Vaccine Clinic https://www.northamptonma.gov/2219/Vaccine-Clinics
All people aged 12 and older who live, work, or study in Massachusetts can now get vaccinated. The vaccine is free, even for those without insurance. You do not need to have identification, and sites cannot require documentation or proof of immigration status. Any data collected for the COVID-19 vaccination program may be used solely for public health purposes and can not be used for civil, criminal, or immigration enforcement.
Free COVID-19 Testing Available At The Bangs Center And Jones Library
The town has partnered with UMass to provide free asymptomatic COVID-19 testing to community members. Testing kits may be picked up at the Bangs Community Center on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the adult circulation desk of the Jones Library during regular library hours. The kits may be dropped off in the collection boxes outside the Bangs Center, near the ATM at the Mullins Center, at the rear of the University Health Services, or on the main floor of the Campus Center. Results are available in 24 to 48 hours.
