EVERY SATURDAY through NOVEMBER 19. Amherst Farmers’ Market. Town Common 7:30 a.m – 1:30 p.m. Farm to table produce from local growers and producers. Food, music and events. More information including a list of vendors.

EVERY SUNDAY through OCTOBER 2: Early Bird. Early Birding at the Notch Visitors Center. 1500 West Street. 9:00-9:30 a.m. Join a Park Interpreter on a fun beginner bird stroll. Learn about birds, their behaviors, their needs and habitats. Listen, watch, stroll, sketch or journal on this interactive program. We will do a moderate, 1/2 mile hike around the visitor center and down a short trail. More Information.

Ongoing: Exhibit: Daniel Ellsberg, A Life Of Truth. The UMass Amherst Libraries host “Daniel Ellsberg: A Life in Truth,” a physical and digital exhibit drawing from activist and truth teller Daniel Ellsberg’s vast collection of documents, photographs, and artifacts. The Robert S. Cox Special Collections and University Archives Research Center acquired the collection in 2019.The exhibit is located in two locations in the W. E. B. Du Bois Library until September 2022. It begins on Floor 25 in theReading Room of the Robert S. Cox Special Collections and University Archives Research Center (open M-F 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.) and continues on the Lower Level in the Learning Commons (accessible whenever the Library is open). More Information.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1 THROUGH SATURDAY OCTOBER 1: THEN AND NOW AT GALLERY A3.
28 Amity Street 1D. A new exhibit,  Then and Now, by Ron Maggio and Rochelle Schicoff. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, September 1 from 5-8:00 p.m. and an online art forum on Thursday September 15, at 7:30 p.m.  Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 3-8:00 p.m. More Information.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3: STRINGS AT THE STRONG. Amherst History Museum, 67 Amity, Street. 2 p.m. The Amherst History Museum’s free summer concert series continues with the Cushman String Quartet. The series is made possible with a grant from the Amherst Cultural Council and the generous sponsorship of Stamell Stringed Instruments. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 6:  MASSACHUSETTS STATE PRIMARY ELECTION The State Primary is on Tuesday, September 6th 2022. Polls will be open on this day from 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM. In-person early voting will also be available at Amherst Town Hall. See above for details.  More Information here and here.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 8: JAZZ DRUMMER JONATHAN BARBER WITH VISION AHEAD QUARTET. The Drake.44 N. Pleasant Street. International Recorded artist, composer, educator and bandleader Jonathan Barber was voted the #1 Up-and-Coming Drummer of 2018 in Modern Drummer. SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 11: NORTH AMHERST COMMUNITY BBQ AND POT LUCK. The District One Neighborhood Association (DONA) will hold a barbeque and potluck and end-of-summer party on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 3 to 5 p.m at the Mill River Recreation Area. All are welcome. DONA will provide hotdogs, and beef and veggie burgers. Please bring a dish to share. More information

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12: AMHERST NEIGHBORS MEMBER APPRECIATION PICNIC. Mill River Recreation Area, Mill River Pavilion, 95 Montague Rd., North Amherst. 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. This event was rescheduled from July 18. Amherst Neighbors, providing neighbor to neighbor support for aging well in the Amherst-Pelham communities, is holding its first in-person, outdoor event. Join us for a festive picnic, good food, fun and games, and a chance to meet and celebrate our members, volunteers, and potential members.  Some food foundations and beverages will be provided. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15: DOWNTOWN BLOCK PARTY. 5-9 p.m on North Pleasant Street.
The Amherst Block Party is back!  The Amherst Business Improvement District (BID) is blocking off North Pleasant Street from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday September 15 for a downtown party.  The event will feature  acrobats, juggling, live music preformances, local food, a beer garden, games & prizes, and a lot more!

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24: Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. Preregistration required! Fort River Elementary School (70 South East Street, Amherst). All Amherst, Pelham, Shutesbury and Hadley residents may participate.  Advance registration prior to   is required.  Participation is limited; people are encouraged to register early to ensure an appointment time. Pre-register on-line by visiting www.amherstma.gov/recycling.   For those without computer access, paper registration forms will be available at the Amherst Transfer Station. Registrants will receive an assigned appointment window between 9am and 12pm a few days prior to the event.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 25: Big Brothers and Big Sisters Of Hampshire County Three Ring Ruckus. Lia Toyota, 280 King Street, Northampton. 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
