Huge Turnout For Vaccine Clinic Giveaway.  Second Clinic Scheduled

The state Department of Public Health COVID vaccine clinic held at the Bangs Center on December 5 saw 476 people come for their vaccines, according to Amherst Communications Director Brianna Sunryd. All vaccines for all ages were administered at the clinic and every recipient received a $75 gift certificate to a local grocery store.

There will be a second clinic held at the Survival Center at 138 Sunderland Road on Friday, December 16 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. This clinic is open to Massachusetts residents of ages six months and older. Again $75 gift cards will be given while supplies last. Flu vaccines will be available at as well as all available COVID-19 vaccines. Register here or walk in.

In addition, the town continues to hold its COVID vaccine clinics for those age 12 and older at the Bangs Center from Noon to 2 p.m. on Thursdays. Register here.. Walk-ins are welcome.

Sunryd said that the lines at the December 5 clinic were reminiscent of the early days of the pandemic. CRESS responders were available to help manage the crowds. According to Health Director Jennifer Brown, 91% of Amherst residents are fully vaccinated against COVID and the incidence of COVID in town continues to decrease.
