In SHOWING the UNSEEN, Gallery A3 , 28 Amity Street 1D, celebrates its 21st anniversary as a cooperative gallery with a group show of members’ artwork exploring imagery that brings to light the unseen, overlooked, or obscured —and that has never been previously displayed at the gallery.

While it would be a spoiler to give too many advance details about art that is defined as previously UNSEEN, we can say that the work includes painting and photography, plus collage, assemblage, and sculpture by 19 current gallery members. Some work addresses the theme of UNSEEN with images that are mysterious, ambiguous, and obscure. Other works are UNSEEN in a literal sense, because they remained tucked behind or buried under other work for years, not exactly forgotten but never publicly displayed—until the current occasion for SHOWING the UNSEEN.  Exhibit coordinators Karen Iglehart and Laura Holland note that the show carries an element of surprise as well as mystery, as gallery members display work that up to now was hidden away in their studios.

The show opens with a Champagne Reception on Thursday, February 2, from 5-7:00 pm and runs through February 25.

About Gallery A3
Gallery A3 is an artist-run fine art gallery in downtown Amherst, Massachusetts, that was founded in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 9/11. A group of local artists believed art to be essential to the health and healing of a community and began the gallery as a place to share ideas and artistic support. Current members include painters, sculptors, photographers, printmakers, and mixed media artists. Celebrating its 21stanniversary in 2023, the gallery has hosted monthly exhibits with opening receptions and community forums over the last two decades. All events are free and open to the public.
