Letter: We Need More Details from Candidates on Where They Stand on Jones Library Expansion

I would like to know where each candidate stands on the library project. Of course we all support libraries in the abstract. I would like to know your specific positions on the issues surrounding funding, temporary relocation, construction, historic preservation, and landscaping that have arisen with the modification of the Jones Library. Concerning funding, I would like to know your positions on cost overruns and how much would be enough to cause you to change your mind about the project. What are your thoughts about the relative importance of the library renovation versus other town issues, especially issues that require investment by the town? With respect to the library, is a tax increase and override something you would support? I look forward to reading your published opinions.
