Winter Storm is Coming. Parking Ban in Effect

A winter storm warning has been issued for Western Massachusetts for Saturday evening (1/6) and Sunday morning (1/7).  Heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations of six to 12 inches and winds gusting as high as 35 mph. The warning is in effect for northern Connecticut and western and central Massachusetts from 4 p.m.. Saturday (1/6) to 1 a.m. Monday (1/8). Travel could be very difficult. Snow will overspread the region from west to east roughly between 5 and 9 p.m. Saturday evening. The snow will then become heavy and fall at one to two inches per hour for a time on Saturday night. There may be a bit of a lull in the snow for a time early Sunday, but a second round of steady snow will redevelop later Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon. The snow should finally come to an end some time early Sunday evening.

Parking Ban Declared
The Town of Amherst has declared a town-wide parking ban for Saturday January 6 beginning at 11:59 pm through Sunday January 7 at 7:00 a.m.

During a declared parking ban, parking is prohibited from midnight to 7:00 am on all town streets and in all parking lots, with three exceptions.
 
During this period of parking ban, overnight parking is allowed in:

1. The lower level of the Boltwood parking garage, 
2. The town portion of the Pray Street Lot,
3. Northern row of the town N Pleasant St Lot (row closest to church only).  
 
Otherwise, vehicles will be ticketed and towed nightly, at the owner’s expense. 
Regular enforcement hours for these lots begins at 8am. Any vehicle left parked in these designated parking area is responsible to pay for parking.
