Amherst School Committee Meeting of February 15 Was Not Recorded
The Amherst School Committee scheduled a continuation of its FY 2025 budget public hearing on Thursday, February 15. The initial discussion, held on Tuesday, February 13 was held virtually over GoogleMeet and was recorded. In that meeting, the school committee heard comments from 49 parents, teachers, and students and scrolled through 92 pages of emails submitted. The meeting lasted over four hours.
The February 15 meeting was held in the Town Room of Town Hall and was to have been simulcast on Amherst Media’s Channel 15 and also live-streamed by Amherst Media. However, no remote access was provided. The Indy reached out to Amherst Media inquiring as to why the meeting was not broadcast and recorded but has not received a response as of early Saturday morning when we went to press.
Amherst School Committee Chair Sarah Marshall was informed at the start of the meeting that Amherst Media was not present at the meeting.
In addition to a continuation of the FY 2025 budget, the agenda included a discussion of the move of the sixth grade to the Middle School in the fall of 2025 or 2026. The Indy will report on the meeting when information becomes available.
