Voting Information for September 3 Primary

The State Primary Election is on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Voters must be registered to vote in Amherst and have the options to vote-by-mail, vote early in-person, or vote on election day. See below for details. 

Voter Registration 

Vote-By-Mail 

  • The Secretary of State mailed every registered voter a vote by mail application postcard. If you haven’t already applied, you can do so online at MailMyBallotMA.com 
  • The deadline to submit an application is Monday, August 26th by 5 p.m.   
  • Return your ballot by mail, in person to the Town Clerk’s Office, or drop it in the election drop box (located outside the Main St. entrance of Town Hall). 
  • Ballots must be received by the close of polls or 8pm on Election Day in order to be counted. 
  • You can track the status of your ballot at www.trackmyballotma.com 

In-Person Early Voting 

  • First Floor Meeting Room of Town Hall (4 Boltwood Ave) 
  • Saturday, August 24: 10:00 am – 4:00 p.m. 
  • Monday, August 26 – Friday, August 30: 8:00 am – 4:30 p.m.  

Election Day Voting

  • Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.  
  • Find your polling location at WhereDoIVoteMA.com  
  • Attention Precinct 1-A Voters – Your polling location has moved to the North Amherst Library, 8 Montague Rd.  
  • Any voter who has returned a vote-by-mail ballot accepted by the local election Office cannot vote on Election Day. 

Important Deadlines 

  • Last day to register to vote: Saturday, August 24 (5 p.m. in-person) 
  • Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot: Monday, August 26 (5 p.m. in-person) 
  • Deadline to return main-in ballot: Tuesday, September 3 by 8 p.m. at Town Clerk’s Office or Ballot Drop Box (Main St. entrance of Town Hall)
