The Town of Amherst has issued a permit to residents of the Lincoln-Sunset-McClellan Neighborhood to close Lincoln Avenue from Amity Street to Fearing Street between 5:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m on October 31 (Halloween). The purpose of the closure is to make the neighborhood safer for trick or treaters.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

Neighborhood organizers also seek volunteers to help turn away cars at the inlets to the neighborhood (Amity, Fearing, Elm, McLellan) in two shifts, 5:00-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m. Those interested in helping out should contact Barbara Pearson at bzpearson@gmail.com.
