Photos of the Week: The 2024 Fall Foliage Gallery

This foliage season has pressented us with colors that have been more muted than usual. That is partially attributable to a warm fall. According to the National Park Service, “warmer fall temperatures can disrupt or delay the temperature cues trees use to start the dormancy process, and can lead to a later, shorter, and often less brilliant peak fall foliage season.” (see also US Forest Service (The Science of Fall Colors). But while the colors have been mostly muted this year, they still present us with captivating fall scenes that beckon us to get outdoors and enjoy the season.
