The Elementary School Building Committee (ESBC) met on February 14, 2025 and learned that the project is two weeks into construction with foundations having been started on February 3. Owner’s Project Manager Kseniya Slavsky of Accenture reported that “Everyone is playing well together and rising to the occasion with flying colors”.
Steel beam erection is anticipated to start in March. A topping off ceremony, when the final beam is set into place will offer an opportunity for residents to visit the site and celebrate that milestone. Slavsky reported that the Clerk of the Works, Lee Figgins, will be on site full time, being the eyes and ears of the design team and the town. She spoke of his qualifications as a geotechnical engineer and her confidence in his abilities to ensure quality construction. The soils have been inspected prior to the placement of the concrete foundation and subsurface conditions are appropriate to support the building.
The committee’s next meeting will be March 16.
