League of Women Voters’ Racial Justice Programs in April

The League of Women Voters Amherst will offer two panel discussions in April centered on racial justice. These programs address theaw two questions, How are diversity, equity and inclusion programs being handled in Amherst, given the new directives from Washington? What will be Amherst’s biggest school budget challenges for coming years? Both events are part of the Judy Brooks Conversation Series.
Challenges in the Amherst Schools: Jennifer Shiao, Chair of the Amherst School Committee, and Deb Leonard, Secretary of the Amherst School Committee, will discuss the top issues facing local schools at 7:00 p.m on Wednesday, April 2 in an online program sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Amherst. Food Security and the Amherst Mobile Market: On Thursday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. the conversation will focus on how the Amherst Mobile Market fills a gap in access to fresh produce while also building community and promoting local economic development. Rossana Salazar, Rani Parker, Isabel Ramirez Balderas and Elizabeth Castro Sanchez, from the Amherst Mobile Market, will share how their mobile markets are designed to ensure that no one in our community has to go without fresh, healthy, and affordable food.
