UMass will be giving away free seedlings grown in campus nurseries from local seeds, many of which come from historic and champion trees like the Black Tupelo on campus. The giveaways will be at the Goodell Lawn at UMass on Friday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday April 22, from noon to 4 p.m.  A range of species of trees and shrubs will be on offer, some edible. Planting these seedlings will support genetic diversity and resilience in our canopy.

The Indy will post more information on this event as it becomes available.
