Two New Appointments to Energy and Climate Action Committee
Town Council approved Town Manager Paul Bockelman’s nominations of two new members of the Energy and Climate Action Committee (ECAC) at their meeting on January 2. The nominations were approved unanimously as part of the consent agenda. In a memo to the Town Clerk and Town Council dated January 3, Bockelman nominated the following:
For a two-year term on the ECAC (expiring June 30, 2025):
Toni McElrath of Nutting Avenue
For a three-year term on the ECAC (expiring June 30, 2026):
Michael Ising of Heatherstone Road
The Town Manager provided the following biographical profiles for the nominees:
Toni McElrath is a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His concentration includes ecological traumas and he brings a strong passion for social and environmental justice. His goal is to build better spaces and environments for underserved and underrepresented parts of the community. He speaks four languages and has strong organizing skills.
Michael Ising has worked for the past decade in the energy and sustainability fields focusing on new construction and retrofit buildings. He specializes in energy and carbon performance, energy assessments, and LEED energy analyses. As a mechanical engineer, he is skilled at conducting investment-grade energy audits, has the ability to analyze complicated energy systems, and utilize energy modeling to quantify energy/carbon reduction measures.
