Photo of the Week: The State of ARMS Emergency Exits by Chris Hockman
These photos of emergency exits and first responder entryways at Amherst Regional Middle School (ARMS) were taken by Chris Hockman on May 5, 2024.
Our feature, Photo of the Week, presents each week, a new picture by a local photographer. We invite local photographers to share their photographs here. Please include a description/caption and an indication of who is to be credited.
This for our school children, regular flooding and black mold for our employees in the DPW building and roads and sidewalks in serious disrepair for all who travel in our community, including those in emergency service vehicles. Yet the Town NEEDS a new, huge, expensive Jones Library, a building the Town does not even own and from which the services offered, albeit important and desired, are not required by law or for basic health and safety. I just don’t get it.
Can the Indy have a weekly photo feature called “Crumbling Infrastructure”? On South East Street, there are no guardrails over the Fort River that could prevent anyone, bike or car from tumbling into the river. Just some thick wires laying on the ground for years. I’m sure people would send the Indy lots of photos.
I like the photo feature idea. For example, following the recent tornado warning, a tree fell in our neighborhood (which is residential and not a priority) and the roots pulled up the sidewalk. There has been an orange cone sitting there for weeks now.
