Letter: Deerfield Restoration of 1888 Building Offers Interesting Contrast With Jones Renovation
I don’t know anything about this two story building with attic space (for example, the overall size), but here is another example of an old/older building that will be completely renovated to include new energy efficient hvac, new windows, all new mechanicals, solar panels and historical restoration of the 136-year-old structure. There will even be a glass atrium added to access a new, smaller building to be built as part of the project. All was designed by Amherst-based Kuhn Riddle.
I am intrigued that this project that will produce an administrative office building for the town, will include engineering and all costs beyond construction at a quarter the cost of the Jones renovaion, and I love the quote in the article linked below that the town wanted to do this for what it could afford without any impact to its tax revenue or need to borrow.
