CDBG Committee Announces Funding Recommendations for FY26: Public Hearing March 13

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee recommended at its meeting on February 24, the following proposals for funding in FY2026:
- Non-Social Service Proposals
- Town of Amherst – VFW housing Resource Center Predevelopment Activities. Recommended funding: $200,000
- Town of Amherst – Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements near Kendrick Park. Recommended funding: $287,500
- Amherst Community Land Trust – 174 Amity Street Predevelopment Costs. Recommended Funding: $65,000
- Social Service Proposals
- Amherst Survival Center. Recommended funding: $78,256
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Recommended funding: $30,013
- Family Outreach of Amherst. Recommended funding: $37,483
- Center for New Americans. Recommended funding: $15,073
- Amherst Mobile Market. Recommended funding: $9,174
As required by state regulations, a public hearing to gather public comment on the recommendations will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. The full applications submitted for CDBG funding may be viewed on the committee’s webpage.
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) has designated the Town of Amherst a Mini-Entitlement Community that is eligible to apply for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. CDBG funds support housing, community development projects, and social service activities benefiting low-and moderate-income citizens. The committee’s recommendations and public comments will be submitted to the EOHLC in April.
